The launching of the Mincio viaduct

The launching of the Mincio viaduct has been completed as part of the construction works of the HS/HC Brescia Est – Verona railway line.
A 320 meter viaduct characterized by a particular push launching method in multiple time phases. Steel Project Engineering developed on behalf of Cimolai S.p.A. the Decks Launching Project.
The object of the launching are the three metal spans (50m + 72m + 50m) of the eight that overall make up the railway bridge deck.
The metal girders are 3.2 m high, with the exception of the central one which has a variable height between 3.20m and 4.80m and are made up of a rectilinear trapezoidal box deck in a steel-concrete composite system.
The launching was carried out using a pulling system consisting of a hydraulic jack and a strand cable connected at one end to a fixed point and at the other to the intrados of the caisson.

The bridge was made to slide on roller conveyors located on the definitive and temporary piers and on the launching field. During the launching procedure, adjustments were made to the forearm and the height adjustments of the struts on which the roller conveyors rested, in order to proceed with the advancements, adapting correctly to the shape of the bridge’s intrados. We thank Cimolai S.p.A. for the trust placed. For further information we share some recent publications: Linkedin posthttps://www.cepavdue.it/completeto-il-varo-del-viadotto-mincio/

Site inspection

We are sharing with you some press articles regarding the construction works of the new Bridge over the Serchio in Lucca, specifically relating to the lifting operations of the metal deck of the viaduct accessing the bridge (we had already told you about it here: https://www .steelproject.it/ponte-sul-fiume-serchio-2/ ), as well as the visit to the construction site by the president of the province, Luca Menesini, and the manager of the provincial road sector, Eng. Pierluigi Saletti.
For the occasion we carried out an inspection of the construction site with some engineers and designers from Steel Project Engineering on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July. We witnessed the lifting and positioning operations of the macro-deck segments.
The project involved the construction of a three-span arch bridge for crossing the Serchio River, with a span of 80 m, 100 m and 80 m respectively, an access viaduct for crossing the floodplain on the left bank and an embankment connecting to the road to Camaiore (sp n. 1 Francigena) on the right bank.

We apologize for the mix-up and have also corrected the information in the previous post.

Parco delle Esposizioni (PEX) station – Line 17

We share with you an interesting video from the Grand Paris Express company in which the work progress of the new Parco delle Esposizioni (PEX) station on line 17 is shown:  https://www.linkedin.com/posts/grand-paris-express

In this project, Steel Project Engineering is developing the Executive Design of the ” Gare du Parc des Expositions” and the “Passerelle” which connects the areas adjacent to the existing railway to the new elevated station and the Exhibition Park.
The station is crossed by the viaduct on which trains circulate and whose structures are independent from those of the building. The station structure extends over a width of approximately 28 meters (overall) and a length of approximately 181 m (without expansion joints), on 4 levels. The pedestrian walkway instead develops on a complex plan with access ramps/lifts and a surface area of 1615 m2; given the particular structural slenderness of the walkway, the appropriate dynamic analyzes were carried out to calibrate the dynamic properties of the TMD and damper system and guarantee dynamic comfort in the walkway.
