XXIX CTA Congress
Let’s Relive the CTA Congress of September 2024!
Dear readers, we want to take you back in time to relive the excitement and discoveries of the XXIX CTA Congress, which concluded at the end of September 2024.
This year’s theme was: “INGEGNERIA E ARCHITETTURA DELLE STRUTTURE METALLICHE: NUOVE SFIDE TRA SICUREZZA, SOSTENIBILITÀ E DIGITALIZZAZIONE“. The event took place at the prestigious Centro dei Congressi Fondazione Cariplo and saw the participation of many professionals.
On this occasion, engineer Giovanni Costa Costa took part in the plenary session roundtable titled “Engineering and the Strategic Role of Steel,” to illustrate the renovation work of pavilions 13-15 at Fiera Milano Rho-Pero, in preparation for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics.
Additionally, Steel Project Engineering, through the presentations of its collaborators in parallel sessions, had the pleasure of showcasing some of its latest flagship projects.
Presented Projects:

It rotates entire ship blocks 180°, simplifying welding operations and speeding up execution times. A cutting-edge technology that has revolutionized lifting and handling operations in shipyards.
- Overpass bridges for railway and the Moselle river in Thionville, France
- Presenters: Eng. Furio Grandelis – Eng. Leonardo Balocchi
- Engineering projects that combine aesthetic beauty and functionality, improving connectivity in one of France’s key regions. The new Thionville bridge spans SNCF railway lines and the Moselle river, and is part of the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) creation for the Thionville-Fensch urban transport union (SMITU).
Many other presentations took place during the CTA congress.
The wealth of ideas and the enthusiasm of the speakers made this congress a memorable event. We can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us!
